Google Turns 21 Today
Today, September 27, 2019, everyone’s favourite search engine turned 21 years old. What began as a merely an idea, a paper published by Stanford PhD students Sergey Brin and Larry Page called “The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine”, has become a multibillion-dollar company and the most popular search engine by a wide margin. Not only is it a search engine, but Google has its own browser with its very own suite of services like Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets and cloud storage with Google Drive. In a matter of merely 21 years, Google has become the primary way that people search the internet. How did this happen? Now that Google is of legal drinking age in the US, let’s take a look at how they got where they are today.
Pivoting your personal brand
Effective Types of Sales Enablement Content
Different types of content pull different types of weight. Every piece has its purpose, and it's important to understand how all your content works for you. For example, while blogs are great at educating and informing your customers about different aspects of your service and industry, a video can go to even greater lengths to show how your product works. If you are having trouble capturing your leads at later points in the sales funnel, consider amping up your content game with some solutions we have below.
Generating More Engagement with Your Social Media
Content is created for the sole purpose of educating and engaging your audience. You don’t write blogs, develop a product video or even update your company’s Facebook page for yourself. These things are done to drive your brand, to get the attention of people who have a problem that you can solve. But what if you’re having trouble generating engagement with your content? There is always the possibility that you might have to rework your content, but it could just be that no one sees it. Social media builds relationships with your customers and puts your information right in front of them. Below, we have several ways to use social media to increase audience engagement with your brand.
Setting Professional and Personal Goals
Write down your goals
If there are things you haven’t achieved yet, it might be because you haven’t written them down. Putting your goals down on paper might be the first physical step towards realising what you want to accomplish. Writing your goals down can be a cathartic experience, because this means that you have, at the very least, a general idea of where you want to be and what you want to do. Defining what you want to achieve is a huge step in this process because achievements can take on very abstract forms. Keep a list, no matter what the timeline is so that you can check things off as you accomplish them.
Find accountability
Accomplishing goals is hard to do on your own. Bring someone along with you on your journey! Finding an accountability partner is the best way to make sure you are achieving what you want. It’s not an easy process, but it can make a huge difference in your journey. A good accountability partner can support you along the way in your journey and provide some tough love when you get side-tracked. This relationship works best when you can talk to someone you trust and respect, which should allow for your partner to give you constructive criticism when you need it.
Celebrate the wins, recover from the losses
There’s nothing wrong with celebrating your victories when you achieve your goals. You should celebrate! It’s a big deal. No matter what you decide to celebrate with, acknowledge how you achieved your goal and what processes brought you here. We are all on our journey, and we all will experience varying degrees of failure and success. There will be times when things don’t work out. Whatever the reason might be, make sure that you are kind to yourself in these moments. Figure out what went wrong, fix it and move on to the next big goal. Whatever happens, keep growing and moving forward.
Mellissah Smith and Morgan Doyle of Marketing Eye went live on LinkedIn with Robert Fox of Strategy to Revenue to discuss how they assess their personal and professional goals, and how they go about achieving those. Take a look at their in-depth conversation below.
