Marketing trends to pay attention to in 2019!
So that time of year has come around again, the end of one year and the beginning of another. It’s a time for reflection and looking forward and so I’ve been asking myself of late what will the future of marketing holds for us in 2019? It’s surely an exciting time to be in marketing with so many developments and improvements coming to fruition so I put together a list of Marketing trends to watch in 2019.
AI-driven customer service
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a big thing in marketing and social media. Social media ad optimisation through platforms such as Google, Amazon and Facebook have been quick to adopt artificial intelligence to enhance customer interaction, especially in the form of online customer service. In 2018, the growth in AI-driven communication has been undeniable and Hootsuite has predicted that by 2020, more than 85% of all customer service interactions will be powered by AI bots.
Influencer Marketing
Influencers are around us everywhere, on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. Any time you see a sponsored video by anyone with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, you’re watching someone who’s considered an influencer. When influencers talk about a product or service, they’re taking advantage of social engineering to give off the impression that the product or service they’re marketing plays a significant role in their life and that it can play a significant role in their watchers lives too. They’re people we feel we can trust and that goes a long way in a market where customers are hesitant to trust big companies. Influencer Marketing will only become bigger in 2019 as social media increases and as more channels of influence increase.
Chatbots
The occurrence of chatbots are expected to continue growing in 2019—and they'll likely become more “normal” in the eyes of consumers. In other word; the novelty will fade but we will see them become more widespread and usable.
In 2019, we expect chatbots to be the first place someone goes to order a pizza, choose a mobile plan, or even book a hotel room. It’s big business and only growing in popularity.
Augmented reality
This trend is predicted to be a big deal with social media in 2019. It is the increase in what’s called “augmented reality.” So, what is it? Augmented reality is when what you’re seeing in your computer or phone is augmented or effected by other elements. Snapchat is a good example of this with their facial filters.
Content Clustering for improving SEO
Search engines have recently changed their algorithms, instead of favouring keywords they now show preference to clusters of content around particular topics. As such marketers have begun linking content to form clusters relating to their category.

04 Dec 2018Very interesting Michelle! The Influencer Marketing trend is something I particularly agree with. I can see that many people online are heavily influenced by what influencers endorse. Anything that youtubers and the 'instagram famous' endorse seem to sell rapidly and I wonder how this trend will progress in the next few years.
