The ultimate Christmas Party
I guess if I posed this question to my team, they would possibly agree, but this year has been a big one and they deserve their moment of letting loose and enjoying each other's company outside of work, celebrating their success.
Tonight, we head to The Smith in Melbourne with some of our team, Sydney is going to Woolloomoolloo wharf to China Doll, and Atlanta is going to Cape Dutch. Other offices will do their own thing, and due to deadlines have moved stuff, which is the norm in my business.
Thinking about today and how it will unfold, I realise just how important the people that work for Marketing Eye are. They are always putting their best foot forward, challenging marketing as a discipline and mentoring each other on their strong points. This collaborative environment had some teething problems as you would expect when you aren't quite Google, but somehow I feel a sense of ease with everything falling into place.
Tonight for us is just what we need; a party with no expectations, and a celebration with good food and wine. People sitting around the table enjoying each other's conversation and contribution to the world. They all have played a role in one way or another in our charity The World Incubator, and have seen what being kind does in a world that is so out for itself.
Other Christmas parties are interesting, and they make for a lot of fun. I am going to one in the next few days full of celebritites, champagne and all that comes with a black tie event. I am sure that many of my team would like something like this as a once off, but given that they have had a full on year, it's time to let our hair down and get ready for "me time".
So expect jovial Marketing Eye's around the world, singing to Christmas tunes and laughing a lot. Everyone is ready for the year to end, and a new one to start. Watch Instagram for tonight's highlights in Melbourne which is where I will be spending the evening.
