I am not sure you, but I work full time in marketing and even I find it hard to keep up with the latest in social media.
Fortunately, we are not alone. The world has gone "bonkers" over social media and just like the way taking a photograph on our mobile phone is now the norm, so too is checking in on social media and engaging with audiences for both business and pleasure.

Now, are you still going to ignore social media? How can any company afford to not put their largest portion of their marketing budget online?
These facts are alarming and growing every single second. Election campaigns are won because of how well Politicians promote themselves on social media. Superstars are made, just by posting a video.
Yet, I still talk to small businesses that say social media isn't for them. Is this plain ignorance or are they afraid of what they don't know? That is the question that must be answered.
In 2013, no company on the planet should not be engaging with customers via social media. It is the most cost effective way in which to communicate, gain marketshare and connect with prospects in a meaningful way that leads to sales.

04 Feb 2013This blog is spot on. Social media is the way forward. It is so important for companies to be able to adapt to the differing market conditions and these conditions now require a certain level of social media 'nouse'.
ReplyClearly companies need to develop social media outlets for their customers, but moreover it will cost them less to be using social media and it is the fastest form of communication available at this current time.
A company who is not yet on this bandwagon is simply losing ground as more and more people are converted every day.

ReplyThe main issue surrounding the business world today is the fact that social media and its users is increasing at a dramatic rate and if firms are not adapting to this dynamic environment then they are likely to lose competiveness and eventually be forced to move out of the industry.
Firms often don't realise or take the time to research the increasing amount of benefits that social media can bring to their business. Social media offers a low-cost platform for creating and enhancing relationships, engaging with customers regularly, increasing word-of-mouth and building brand awarness. This can all be achieved through traditional media outlets, however, through social media they can be achieved more effectively, at a faster rate and at a lower rate so why wouldn't you give it a go!
My final words are that a new way of communicating has emerged and consumers are expecting businesses to have a strong social media presence because this is how consumers today primarily communicate, source information and gain awareness of company brands and their products/services.
It is evident that Social media in the coming years is going to keep on growing at a rapid rate and if businesses havent already become "social media savvy" than they better start before its too late!
